The Open Network (TON) Foundation has introduced a new governance model — Society DAO, aimed at creating a more decentralized ecosystem. Community members will be able to actively participate in decision-making, resource allocation, and project management, which will enhance autonomy within TON.
"The TON Foundation is returning the power of resource allocation back to the community," stated President Steve Yun and co-founder Jack But. This new governance model replaces the centralization that was effective in the early stages, but now adaptability is needed to support the growth of the ecosystem.
The main goals of Society DAO include positioning TON as a gateway for real-world use cases of cryptocurrencies and establishing a stable blockchain system. Members can propose strategic initiatives, which will be evaluated by working groups, and the TON Foundation will fund approved initiatives. In January 2025, Society DAO will present key initiatives for the first half of the year and invite community members to discuss.
