Cryptocurrency exchange M2 was hit by a cyberattack that resulted in the theft of digital assets worth $13.7 million, as reported by the exchange itself in a statement dated October 31. It states:
"We want to inform you that the situation has been fully resolved, and client funds have been restored. M2 has taken full responsibility for any possible losses, reaffirming our commitment to clients’ interests. All services are fully operational with additional security measures in place."
The hackers managed to steal $13.7 million in Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana from the exchange's "hot wallets," as reported by anonymous blockchain analyst ZachXBT in Telegram on November 1.
