Norway continues to work on recommendations for implementing a central bank digital currency (CBDC), and a final decision is expected next year. Central Bank Deputy Governor Pål Longva stated that despite the active steps of other countries, Norway is not rushing to launch. He emphasized that the country is studying the issues of creating digital currency and is ready to cooperate with other central banks.
Norway is considering both retail and wholesale versions of CBDC, but special attention is being paid to the wholesale option, which involves transactions between banks and the central bank.
