According to the New York Times, Gates is concerned about the consequences of a potential second term for Donald Trump, which could reduce funding for health and family planning programs supported by his foundation. He noted that this election is particularly important and supports candidates working to improve healthcare, reduce poverty, and combat climate change.
The donation went through Future Forward USA Action, an organization that does not disclose its donors.
