Former Philippine mayor Alice Guo has been linked to the bankrupt Atom Asset Exchange (AAX), which in 2022 stole millions of clients' cryptocurrency assets. Guo is facing trial for charges of human trafficking and fraud. The investigation also uncovered her connections to illegal gambling, human trafficking, and possible Chinese espionage.
In March, Guo was implicated in a financial slavery operation where around a thousand workers, many of whom were victims of human trafficking, were used in illegal gambling and cryptocurrency schemes.
Guo's partner, Huang Zhiyang, is also associated with the fraudulent company Sun Valley Clark Hub Corporation, which engaged in cryptocurrency scams and human trafficking.
AAX, founded by Su Wei Yi, closed after being accused of embezzling up to $30 million in client funds. Guo and her partners are charged with money laundering, human trafficking, and illegal gambling operations.
