Cybercriminals have started blackmailing YouTube bloggers, forcing them to insert malicious software for cryptocurrency mining into their videos. The perpetrators use popular Windows Packet Divert drivers that bypass geographical restrictions. In tutorial videos on how to install them, they add links to SilentCryptoMiner — a program for mining Ethereum, Monero, and other cryptocurrencies. Criminals use false copyright complaints to insert malicious links into popular videos, leading to the infection of thousands of users, including those in Russia. Kaspersky recommends checking the sources of downloaded files and using antivirus software.
