Tether, the leading issuer of stablecoins, has appointed Simon McWilliams as the new Chief Financial Officer, highlighting the company's intention to undergo a full independent audit. Although Tether publishes quarterly confirmations of its reserves, an independent audit has not yet taken place. This move is aimed at improving transparency and strengthening regulatory oversight. Tether is also one of the largest holders of U.S. Treasury bonds, contributing to liquidity in global markets and enhancing access to the U.S. dollar, particularly in developing countries.
